This spring marks the first time YEBO will operate beyond schools. We’ve decided to go back to our roots and replant ourselves in the neighborhood the organization was founded in.
We’re excited to announce that YEBO is a new tenant at Green Spaces, a coworking community located in the heart of Denver’s Five Points neighborhood. When we first met owner and CEO Jevon Taylor in 2020, he was running an eco-friendly clothing brand. He was adamant about creating sustainability initiatives, particularly around retaining home-grown talent in Denver.
Last year, Jevon purchased Green Spaces and became the new CEO. This coworking space exists as a physical manifestation of Jevon’s vision: “a community where sustainability & culture meet technology & business to shape one of the most diverse and dynamic urban hubs in the country” (Blog Post, Green Spaces).
With YEBO committing to hiring and developing youth as professional media producers and Green Spaces’ desire to provide the Denver community physical space to reinvest in local talent, there was natural mission alignment. We’ve learned from Jevon that sustainability goes beyond saving the trees; it starts and begins with our people.
The move to Green Spaces supports us in growing our new statewide initiative Mission 1477, as it strategically places YEBO in the heart of Denver’s arts-and-culture community, while enabling us to serve young people from a diverse-range of communities throughout the Denver-Metro area and beyond.
We’re fortunate to have worked with amazing school partners since our inception, and now we get to usher in this new phase of YEBO by learning and building with the dynamic community of artists, entrepreneurs, and businesses of Green Spaces. And with a gorgeous events layout, we’re thrilled about the possibilities of bringing together stakeholders and supporters through future live storytelling events.
Together with the Green Spaces community, we look forward to a future determined by our own actions and values, a future where we do not wait for permission to act and instead lean on community to manifest the change we wish to see.
The world might be our studio, but we’re excited to call Green Spaces our new home!
